Mindfulness is something we all naturally possess. It is when you bring awareness to what you’re experiencing in the here and now rather then just being on auto-pilot. For example, when your mobile pings a new message, you take time to pause and breathe instead of responding immediately without thinking.
Why is mindfulness important?
In today’s fast paced, immediate world, it’s easy to react instantly rather than taking the time to think and putting space between ourselves and our reactions. It’s finding calmness in a frenetic world.

4 tips to practice mindfulness
At Jung Shim, we run classes to help with mindfulness and meditation. These are our tips to practicing mindfulness:
Observe the present moment as it is. It isn’t always about quieting the mind, it is more about paying attention to the present moment.
Let go of your judgments. When judgments arise, make a mental note and then let them pass.
Keep returning to the present moment. Mindfulness requires us to keep returning to the here and now when our minds start to wonder.
Be kind to your wandering mind. Don’t judge yourself for whatever thoughts crop up, just consistently recognise when your mind has wandered off, and gently bring it back.
Jung Shim Classes
Jung Shim classes are based on eastern principles that promote mindfulness and good health through a steady flow and healthy store of Qi (or chi) energy in our system, which maintains the balance of mind, body and spirit.
Qi Classes last one hour and consist of chanting, gentle movements and meditation to help re-train our minds to be more mindful.
